Fall Landscape Classes Now Enrolling
Texas landscape
The wilting heat of summer is almost behind us! Get a jump-start on your fall garden planning by signing up for one of the landscape classes hosted by City of Allen Water Conservation. Join the Sep. 9 class to construct your own 55-gallon rain barrel. You will learn the basics of rainwater harvesting, including how to collect and store rainwater at home. The $50 fee covers all rain barrel supplies.

If you're planning a fall vegetable garden, the Sep. 23 class is the perfect primer. The free seminar will teach proper soil preparation, garden design and disease/insect identification. You will also learn when to germinate vegetable seeds and transplant vegetables for best results.

All classes are held from 6-8 p.m. at the Parks & Recreation Community Room (301 Century Parkway). Registration is required, so sign up for the rain barrel class or fall vegetable class today!
Help the Allen Eagle Escadrille Get to Pasadena!
The Allen Eagle Escadrille has been selected to march in the 2016 Tournament of Roses Parade...and you can help them get there! Tomorrow the band will hold a ten-mile March-a-Thon through Allen neighborhoods. Line the marching route to cheer them on or find out more about this effort.

The Escadrille is also hosting a mattress sale next Saturday to help offset the travel costs for the 700+ students traveling to Pasadena. Two dozen different mattress models will be on display from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Allen High School band hall. Find more details on the fundraiser Facebook page.
