Interested in guitar lessons, ta'i chi classes or learning how to plan for retirement? Beginning Monday, Aug. 10, Allen residents can register for an array of Parks & Recreation programs outlined in the Fall STUFF Guide. You'll find everything from youth camps to photography lessons to dog obedience training, along with fitness classes for all ages.

Residents can register online beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday. Non-residents can enroll beginning on Wednesday. You can pick up a hard copy of the STUFF Guide at any Allen recreation facility or request one by mail by calling 214.509.4700.
Citizens Police Academy Now Accepting Applications

If you want to learn more about the inner-workings of the Allen Police Department, this is the class for you! The Fall 2015 Citizens Police Academy class will begin Thursday, Sep. 10. The 12-week course gives Allen residents an inside look at police department operations. Participants will meet officers from various units, including K-9, SWAT, patrol, criminal investigations and crime scene.

 

Classes meet Thursday evenings, 6-9 p.m., at the Allen Police Training Facility (802 South Greenville Avenue). Enrollment is limited to the first 30 applicants. If you have questions about the course, contact Officer Sammy Rippamonti at 214.509.4358 or srippamonti@cityofallen.org.
