 Some prehistoric guests will be crashing the party at Market Street Allen USA! Allen-based Billings Entertainment and the Dallas Zoo will show off some of the animatronic dinosaurs currently on display at the zoo's "Giants of the Jurassic" exhibit. The life-sized creatures will delight kids and grown-ups alike!
The new Jurassic Zone is one of the many activities you'll find at Celebration Park on June 27. Enjoy bounce houses, games, dance-offs and more as soon as the doors open at 4 p.m. Live performances begin on the Main Stage at 4:30, leading up to our headliner Michael McDonald. (And with more than twenty food vendors, you'll want to come hungry!)

| "Check it Before You Wreck It" Campaign Reminds Drivers to Watch Speed |

 Allen Police will be launching a a new public awareness campaign to help reduce traffic accidents. The campaign will compliment traffic enforcement activities funded by the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) grant through Texas Department of Transportation. The grant funds overtime activities for traffic patrol and enforcement in an effort to reduce traffic accidents. Allen police use the grant specifically to address speeding and drunk driving. Allen police respond to an average of fifty accidents per week. More than 10% are caused by speeding or drunk driving. "You can pay a speeding ticket. But you can't compensate someone for a lost life," says Allen Police Sgt. Jason Erter. "That consequence is permanent."

| Allen City Manager Wins Lifetime Achievement Award |

 Allen City Manager Peter Vargas has been named the recipient of the Texas City Manager Association (TCMA) Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes city managers who have made a significant contribution to the field of local government for 20 years or more.
Vargas joined Allen in 1999 and led the city through an unprecedented period of growth. He helped develop new standards to manage growth, forged public/private partnerships to bring new amenities to Allen and provided sound fiscal management to greatly improve the city's bond rating. TCMA also credited him for building an employee culture of integrity and customer service.
Congratulations to Mr. Vargas for receiving this great honor!
