The City of Allen is performing a system-wide upgrade on its phone and network system this Sunday, June 7. Beginning early that morning, all city department phone lines will be down and city staff will be unable to send or receive any email messages. Emergency 911 phone service will not be affected, and several after-house extensions will be rerouted and active.

A number of City facilities will be closed or have limited operations during the upgrade. Others will require manual transactions for sales. To view the complete list, visit CityofAllen.org/UnplugWe appreciate your patience as we complete this important project!

Get Your Market Street Allen USA Wristbands...and Share Your Talent!

Kid Zone wristbands are now on sale for this year's Market Street Allen USA! Discounted wristbands ($20 each) are available at Joe Farmer Recreation Center and Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium. You'll pay $25 per wristband if you purchase them at the event

The Kid Zone presented by Watters Creek includes inflatables, games and rides. Kids can also enter the shaded Craft Tent to enjoy spin art, caricatures, event photo trinkets and airbrush tattoos. The Toddler Zone will return this year with activities appropriate for smaller tots. Check out all the zones at this year's event.

Finally, we've extended the deadline for this year's Talent USA submissions. Whether you dance, act, juggle or perform magic tricks, we want to hear from you! All ages are welcome to the stage, but performances must be family friendly and less than three minutes long. No stage setup time is allotted, so only hand-held acoustic instruments will be allowed on stage. Check out our flyer for more details. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 15.

Is Your Pet Calendar-Worthy?

Picking up after your pooch isn't only considerate, it's also required by City ordinance. Pet waste that is not disposed of properly can put your health, your dog's health, and your child's health at risk. It can also create a water quality issue by carrying pollutants into local lakes and streams.

That's why DFWStormwater.com is honoring pet owners who "Doo the Right Thing" in their 2016 Calendar Photo Contest. Take the pledge and submit your dog's photo by Wednesday, July 15. Winners will have their dogs' photos published in the 2016 calendar.
