Allen's biggest cleanup day is less than 24 hours away! The Great American Cleanup will take place Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can donate, recycle and dump nearly anything at one of our designated stations.
- Allen City Hall: pet items, furniture, clean clothing, toys, household goods, eyeglasses, cell phones, cardboard boxes, lawn mowers, grills, small appliances, books, CDs, magazines, bicycles, gently-used shoes, document shredding, unwanted medication or sharps. Also accepting walker, rollators, wheel chairs, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, hospital beds and air mattresses.
- Chelsea Boulevard at Allen Commerce Parkway: yard trimmings, brush, household appliances (without Freon), cardboard boxes, bulk trash items, TVs, computers, printers, ink cartridges
- Lowery Freshman Center (601 E. Main St.): unwanted medication and sharps
The event is free to Allen water utility account holders. You must present current bill and driver's license to participate. View event flyer.

Be Prepared for Detours, Closed Lanes Near US 75 |  |

Drivers on McDermott Drive and Bethany Drive must follow detours April 20-22 as crews hang new beams on US 75. The work will also prompt lane closures on US 75 and frontage roads. Work will take place at night, with roads closing at 7 p.m. and reopening by 7 a.m. the next day. You can view the full schedule of closures here.

Help Victims of Abuse During Allen Police Department's Donation Drive |  |
 The Allen Police Department is collecting donations to help Collin County women and children get back on their feet. Items will be distributed during "An Evening of Empowerment," a special event to help families touched by domestic abuse, homicide, child abuse or other crimes. Requested items include: * Shampoo/conditioner, body wash and soap (liquid or bar) * Diapers, wipes, baby food, formula * Cleaning supplies/sponges * Laundry detergent/bleach, fabric softener/dryer sheets * Feminine products (pads or tampons) * Deodorant/hand sanitizer Donations of diapers, wipes and formula are especially appreciated. Donation boxes are available next to the checkout desk at Allen Public Library (300 N. Allen Drive) and inside the lobby of Allen Police Headquarters (205 W. McDermott Drive). Please drop off donations by noon on Wednesday, April 22. "An Evening of Empowerment" began in 2013 to provide a night of papering, emotional support and legal resources to victims of crime. Organizers expect to serve more than 200 families during this year's event. |
