Want to make it through spring break without hearing the words, "I'm bored"? The creative folks at the Allen Public Library and the Parks and Recreation Department are here to help! They've put together a packed calendar of camps, classes, craft days and movie nights to keep all ages entertained.
Kids can learn to ice skate, make henna art, compete in cupcake wars or create interesting oragami. Or they can register for one of our spring break camps to learn film making, fine art or even how to survive a zombie apocalypse (see the full list in our Stuff Guide, starting on page 9). Then gather around the big screen for free showings of 101 Dalmatians, The Book of Life, Up and Big Hero 6 in Allen Public Library's Civic Auditorium. Whether your family features teenage Cinderellas or tiny Tony Hawks, our city calendar probably has an event to interest you! |
Stage 3 Watering Restrictions Extended Through April 30 |
 |
The City of Allen will continue observing Stage 3 Watering Restrictions through April 30, following a decision by the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD). This means that residential and business customers may use sprinklers or irrigations systems once every two weeks on designated watering days only. Beginning April 1, watering will be prohibited between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Despite the rain and snow we've experienced in the last few weeks, the lakes that supply Allen's water are still historically low. Today, Lavon Lake is 9.37 feet below conservation pool; Lake Jim Chapman is down 7.61 feet. You can view lake levels for Allen's other water sources (including Lake Texoma and Lake Tawakoni) at WaterDataForTexas.org. |
