The Allen Police Department is now accepting applications for the next Basic Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) class.The course teaches women basic self-defense skills so they know how to fight an attacker. Students must be 17 or older to register.

The class will meet every Tuesday evening for four weeks, March 17 through April 7. Classes will be held at the Allen Heights Baptist Church gymnasium (1309 E. Main St.) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This class is limited to 25 participants and is expected to fill up quickly. Applications are available at the Allen Police Headquarters front desk or by emailing Officer Sammy Rippamonti.The first 25 paid applications will reserve a spot in the class.

If you have completed Basic R.A.D. in the past and want to attend as a refresher, notify Office Rippamonti (srippamonti@cityofallen.org) so he can keep an accurate headcount.

Support Our First Responders at "Police vs. Fire on Ice"

Hockey fans are in for a special treat on Saturday, Feb. 28. Before the Allen Americans take on Brampton at Allen Event Center, some familiar faces will enter the rink! Members of the Allen Police Department and Allen Fire Department will face off in the annual "Red vs. Blue" hockey game. (Yes, that's two games for the price of one!) The bonus game kicks off at 5:05 p.m.
