Allen Public Library will be the backdrop for a fictitious murder this week when the Sherlock Holmes Society presents "The Crime." Audience members will be transformed into inspectors, asked to locate fingerprints, blood splatters and other clues to solve this heinous homicide.

Here's the setup: to celebrate the anniversary of the library, Mayor Stephen Terrell asked five DFW celebrities to donate a priceless memento for permanent display at the library. Sadly, the Mayor discovered one of the pieces is a fake. He notified the celebrity and asked for a private meeting. On the night of the meeting, the Mayor told a librarian about the deception, without mentioning who was involved. The next morning, the Mayor was found dead in the library.

Being extremely vain, the killer has posted five clues within the library that will prove the innocence of the other four celebrities. Inspectors must decipher the five clues to identify the actual killer. As their associate Sherlock Holmes is fond of saying, "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable, must be the answer."

You can join the investigation on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by Bach to Books, this program is free.
