In the coming months, Bray Central Drive will undergo construction to not only widen the roadway for increased capacity but also to receive a unique upgrade to its traffic flow. Currently a two-lane road, the roadway construction will expand Bray Central Drive to four-lanes and include a dual-lane roundabout North of Exchange Parkway, at a new intersection with Bossy Boots Drive. Roundabouts offer the safest type of same level intersection and provide the least delay time compared to stop sign or traffic signal control. Construction on Bray Central Drive is anticipated to begin in early May and be completed by the end of the year. To learn more about roundabouts, visit CityOfAllen.org/Roundabouts.

Allen City Council Recognizes Several Initiatives
The Allen Police Department presented three initiatives to Allen City Council for annual recognition. Crime Victims' Rights Week, April 6 - 12, observes and honors crime victims and survivors, their rights, and those who serve them. Each year, more than 23 million Americans are victims of crime. April 13 - 19 honors and appreciates both Public Safety Telecommunicators and Animal Control Officers. Public Safety Communication Technicians are the first and most critical contact citizens have with emergency services and are the single vital link for our police officers and firefighters. Allen Animal Control Officers provide outstanding service on a daily basis to the citizens of Allen by protecting the welfare of animals and contributing to the safety of the community. Proclamations for all three initiatives were read at a recent council meeting.

Important Information from the Allen Parks and Recreation Department
Portions of the men's restroom located near the soccer fields at Celebration Park are currently closed due to severe vandalism which occurred Sunday, April 6. If you have any information about the incident please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 214.509.4700. The restrooms will reopen once all repairs have been completed.

The Parks and Recreation Department has begun preventive measures including the use of visual deterrents and noisemaking devices to discourage a migratory bird settlement at Celebration Park in order to protect the City's largest community park for recreational use this summer. (Listen to sample of noisemakers.) Loud noisemaking deterrents will be in use by Parks and Recreation Staff until the threat of nesting has passed.
