The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) has scheduled chlorine maintenance for its water facilities. On occasion, this process calls for the City to flush water lines by opening fire hydrants in the neighborhood distribution system. The City's flushing program is proactively designed to minimize water use for line flushing and achieve the City's goal of providing safe, clean, pleasant tasting water, and prevent potential health hazards. During this period of chlorine maintenance, some who are sensitive to taste and odor changes in drinking water might notice a difference. This palatability change does not alter the quality of the drinking water provided to consumers.
