On Feb. 22, the Allen Heritage Guild hosts the annual Railroad History Celebration and Sam Bass Day. Join in the commemoration of the infamous first successful train robbery in Texas by the Sam Bass Gang as well as learning more about trains and how they impacted our community. Events for the entire family include a Sam Bass robbery reenactment at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., blacksmith demonstrations, interactive telegraph system, train bingo, and more. Held at the Allen Heritage Center, 100 E. Main Street the fun begins at 11 a.m.

Purchasing Division Receives Award for 13th Consecutive Year |

 The 2013 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement has been awarded to the City of Allen Purchasing Division by the National Purchasing Institute (NPI). This is the thirteenth consecutive year that the City has received this award and Allen is one of only 58 cities in North America to receive the award. In addition, the Purchasing Division was also recognized by US Communities for their continued efforts to save tax-payer dollars through participation in cooperative purchasing programs. Read more...

The 2014 Allen Arts Festival Accepting Applications

 The Allen Arts Festival at Watters Creek will take place May 9 - 11 and the Allen Arts Alliance is now accepting applications for talented artists to showcase a variety of styles and mediums including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, glass, clay, metal, digital art, mixed media, etc. Applications can be completed online. The three day festival will also include live entertainment, children's activities and more.
