Despite winter rainfall and the early December ice storm, Lavon Lake is still at critically low levels. Allen's water is supplied through the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) which receives raw water supplies from several area reservoirs, including Lavon Lake, for treatment and distribution. All of those area lakes remain under the conservation pool and Lavon Lake is only at 48.1% capacity or -12.33 feet down. You can see all area lake levels at WaterDataForTexas.org. Lake Texoma, which normally accounts for over 25% of our water supply, remains unavailable due to the zebra mussel infestation. NTMWD continues to work with state and federal agencies to allow access to the supply at Texoma through a closed pipeline system currently under construction. Visit NTMWD.com/Texoma_Extension.html to read about construction progress. It is anticipated that Allen will remain in Stage 3 water restrictions until Lavon Lake is restored to full capacity.
