As part of National Planting Day, Keep Allen Beautiful and Allen Garden Club will host a public dedication of a wildflower garden in memory of long-time resident and community volunteer Patricia "Pat" Flaherty Buckley on Friday, September 13. Pat was a long-time Allen resident and dedicated volunteer with Keep Allen Beautiful for 12 years. Following the dedication, attendees are invited to participate in the sowing of the seeds that will become Pat's Wildflower Garden. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at Stacy Park,1540 Edelweiss. National Planting Day celebrates the value and power of native species in restoring ecological balance to the environment while creating greener, more beautiful communities.

The City of Allen Water Conservation Division is offering a limited number of irrigation evaluations at no cost to Allen residents through the Water Irrigation System Evaluation Program (W.I.S.E. Guys). Stop by the Utility Billing payment window at Allen City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, to pick up your free evaluation coupon. City Hall is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This offer limited to first 150 residents.

Get In a Quick 9-holes on The Players Course - Now Open!

At The Courses at Watters Creek, players of all ages and skill levels have 33 unique holes to either work on their game or just have fun. And now, The Players Course is open to satisfy players who just need a 9-hole fix! The Players Course features:  

  • Par 30 with 6 par 3s and 3 par 4s
  • 3 sets of tees so players can adjust to the tee that best suits them
  • Fast and fun to play for all ages and skill levels
  • League play for women (Tuesday mornings) and seniors (Wednesday mornings)

The Allen Preparedness Expo will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, at Lowe's, 1010 W. McDermott Dr. The expo is hosted as part of National Preparedness Month in September and provides Ready Campaign information, displays and more. This year's theme is "You Can Be The Hero."

The Preparedness Expo is sponsored by the Allen Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Citizens Fire Academy Alumni/Fire Corps, Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), Citizens Police Academy Alumni, Citizens On Patrol (COP) and Volunteers in Policing (VIP).
