The Allen Police Department would like to remind you that with school starting Monday, school zone speed limits and no cell phone usage goes back into effect. Remember these few simple tips to keep everyone safe:  

• Drive slowly in school zones.  
• Watch for children in the road and always obey crossing guards.  
• Put down phones, breakfast, make-up, etc. and focus on driving.  
• Be alert and patient around school buses and bus stops.

Allen PD would also like to invite the public to a special open house event at the newly remodeled Police Headquarters. The open house is set for Tuesday, August 27 from 5 - 7 p.m. at 205 W. McDermott Drive.

And, don't forget  - the date for National Night Out this year is Tuesday, October 1. The purpose of NNO is to meet with neighbors, a key aspect in crime prevention, as well as the police officers who patrol your community. If you are hosting an NNO neighborhood event, please email Officer Hester with details so that Allen PD officers can come by and visit.
