Outdoor Warning Sirens & Severe Weather Reminders
storm ready As we enter the heightened storm season, the Allen Fire Department wants to remind everyone about the City's outdoor warning siren system. There are 13 sirens placed strategically throughout the city to alert citizens outdoors of imminent severe weather. The ability to hear the sirens indoors can be hindered depending upon proximity to a siren, wind direction, and surrounding noise. Always check local media outlets and have your NOAA National Weather Service radio nearby.

In cases of severe weather, residents are reminded to pay close attention to any weather alerts and take shelter if necessary. The city does not have designated storm shelters for public use - residents are advised to seek shelter in an internal room of your home or business, on the lowest level and away from windows. Hello Zebra Mussels. Goodbye Texas Lakes.
zebra mussel
Texas Parks and Wildlife want to remind you about the invasive Zebra mussel and ways to prevent its spread through Texas lakes. Zebra mussels are a small, destructive species that can hitch a ride on boats and trailers traveling from one lake to another. Even one zebra mussel can produce up to one million microscopic larvae causing tremendous environmental and economic damage - hurting aquatic life, damaging your boat, hindering water recreation and even threatening your water supply. Learn how to clean, drain, and dry your boat at TexasInvasives.org/ZebraMussels to help prevent these tiny, yet destructive creatures.
