Great American Cleanup
It's time to clean up and clean out at the annual Great American Cleanup on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes two locations. Donation and recycling opportunities will be located at Bossy Boots Drive at North Watters Road.

Electronics, paper shredding and medication disposal will be available at Allen City Hall, 305 Century Parkway. Cyclone Aluminum and Steel will accept computers and small appliances. Secure On-Site Shredding will shred personal documents on a first-come basis until trucks are full.

There is also a medication disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both Allen City Hall and Lowery Freshman Center, 601 E. Main St. This is a project of the Allen Police Department and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

In addition, youth ages 14 to 18 and adult volunteers can join the Paint the Town effort by attending the project rally at 8 a.m. at Allen High School Track and Field Stadium, 300 Rivercrest Blvd. Following comments by Mayor Pro Tem Gary Caplinger, volunteers will disperse in groups to begin painting fire hydrants per assigned and mapped quadrants of the city. This is a new volunteer beautification project as part of the Great American Cleanup.

Disposal and recycling opportunities are open to Allen residents only. A current water utility bill and driver's license must be presented. No commercial quantities will be accepted.

Important Information from the North Texas Municipal Water District
The North Texas Municipal Water District Board voted to implement Stage 3 water restrictions effective June 1. Once weekly watering will be required. All water utility account holders will receive a flyer with information on the primary Stage 3 restrictions and a water schedule map before the effective date.

In addition, this information will be available online through the Water Conservation page prior to the effective date. As in the past, there will be active code enforcement to insure that the City meets the 10% water reduction goal mandated by NTMWD. This goal is set for all cities served by the district and meeting this goal helps to sustain water supplies for basic needs and emergency response during periods of extended drought.

For information about long range water management plans, visit the North Texas Municipal Water District.
