With Spring trying to break through, the season for yard sales has begun and this Saturday is no exception! The Allen Police Department Explorer Post 2000 Annual Garage Sale opens at 7 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 601 S. Greenville Avenue. The Explorers have been busy collecting items for sale in order to support their events and competitions.

The Community Garage Sale at Joe Farmer Recreation Center, 1201 E. Bethany Road, also opens at 7 a.m. with wide variety of treasures for sale at great prices. Happy bargain hunting!

Latin Jazz Festival Will Get Your Beat Moving!
Havanah Jazz
This Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Allen Public Library Civic Auditorium, turbo charge your musical experience with a Latin Jazz Festival featuring the Collin College Latin Jazz Ensemble and Havana NRG! Collin College Latin Jazz Ensemble combines the grooves of the Caribbean and South America with a touch of jazz to create a sound that is both high energy and entertaining. The Texas group Havana NRG (New Rhythm Generation) offers up a sizzling platter of timba-influenced salsa. The concert is free and is sure to get you dancing!
Great American Clean-Up Includes Paint the Town Project This Year
Paint the TownThis year, Allen's Great American Clean-up, Saturday, April 27, includes a special volunteer beautification project called Paint the Town where high school aged students and adult volunteers will paint as many of the 3,000 fire hydrants in Allen as possible on the morning of cleanup. The project needs 1,000 participants and volunteers interested in participating can register online or visit JustServe.org and search under "Projects" for more information. Volunteers will receive a special t-shirt.
