The Garden Show: Earth-Kind Garden to Table presented by the Collin County Master Gardeners is this weekend at Meyers Park and Event Center in McKinney. It's an indoor event packed with exciting and informative educational events with hands on activities, demonstrations from local experts, and speakers to present timely information on outdoor living in North Texas. City of Allen Begins Awareness on West Nile

The City of Allen Environmental Health Division staff members have begun proactive efforts to mitigate mosquitoes in order to reduce the risks associated with the West Nile Virus. These efforts include coordinating with the county and surrounding municipalities, larvicide treatment and responding to reports of standing water. Citizens can report areas of standing water by calling 214.509.4160. In addition, residents are reminded to follow all safety precautions to minimize the risk of mosquito bites and breeding. Celebrate Your Newborn with a Book Dedication

Residents of Allen, Lucas or Fairview who have recently become new parents are invited to dedicate a children's picture book at the Allen Public Library in honor of their baby. Simply fill out this form and the Library Children's Staff will select an appropriate picture book and place a gift plate with the child's name and birthday in the book. Once ready, the new parents will receive an announcement of the book selection in order to be able to check it out to read with their child.
