Allen Animal Control Reminds You to Protect Your Pets from Distemper
|
 |
Area cities, including Allen, have recently reported an outbreak of distemper in racoons and pets. The City of Allen Animal Control Division has picked up more than a dozen sick raccoons in the last month. Residents are reminded not to pick up or handle any wildlife, but to call Animal Control at 214.509.4378 to report the problem. Because distemper is very contagious and expensive to treat, pet owners should ensure that pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and city registration. Pet food should not be left outside and garbage bins should be secured with lids closed. |
