At a recent meeting, the Allen City Council proclaimed 2013 as "Allen Eagle Varsity Football Team Year" in honor of their 5A Division 1 State Championship win. Coach Tom Westerberg along with four of the team captains were on hand to receive the proclamation. And in case you haven't heard - Everyone is invited out to the State Championship Community Celebration held at Allen Event Center.
 
Sustainable Landscape Series Begins Saturday

The annual Sustainable Landscape Series kicks off Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with their first seminar - Grow Your Garden Green. This class covers all the horticulture basics and will be presented in the Community Room, 301 Century Parkway. Cost of the seminar is $5. To participate, call 214.509.4553 to reserve a spot.

The full series runs through May and includes a wide range of topics including building a rain barrel, urban tree care, water-wise irrigation and so much more. See flyer for list of programs available.
Just a Reminder - Allen's Chemical Reuse Center Available for Residents
Allen Chemical Reuse Center
The City of Allen's Chemical Reuse Center (ACRC) is open to the public every Thursday from Noon until 2 p.m. Items that have been collected through the residential household hazardous waste program and suitable for reuse are available for free to residents.

The ACRC is also looking for volunteers! For more information on either the ACRC or volunteering, please contact Community Services at 214.509.3100. (Note: Chemicals may not be dropped off at reuse center. Please fill out this form to request an HHW pick-up.)
