Today we know Jesus spoke Aramaic. That language is monotheistic. But when it was written into the New Testament that language was Greek. The Greek language is dualistic. Dualistic means it speaks of heaven/hell, good/bad, right/wrong. It's either one or the other. We also know the Old Testament was written in Hebrew. That language is also monotheistic. It's the language of both/and.   Monotheistic means that everything is tied together. I do believe this is what Jesus was praying in John 17:21, "that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." So it is in our Presbyterian denomination, we are all connected with one another as we are all connected in the Christ. Yet even more so, we are connected to everyone in the world as we all are children of God. Now apply these thoughts to the issues of our life so that the love of Christ is seen within justice.

Dualism may be our greatest sin.

Interfaith Conference on Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence

You are here

Wednesday, October 29, 2014 - 9:00am to 4:30pm
The purpose of this conference is to equip people of faith with information about domestic violence & human trafficking and how they can respond in order to save lives.

Millions of women, men and children are caught in cycles of violence and oppression in the United States and around the globe. People of faith have opportunities to play a significant role in addressing and reducing levels of violence in communities through education and advocacy and, in so doing, save lives. Violence knows no boundaries. It is present in all aspects of society.

On October 29 in Dayton, an interfaith planning team is sponsoring a day-long conference to equip people of faith with information about domestic violence & human trafficking and how they can faithfully respond by moving from complacency to action; thereby, creating communities of peace and non-violence. The luncheon keynote speaker will be Ohio Representative Teresa Fedor - primary sponsor of human trafficking legislation in the State of Ohio. The conference features a panel of faith leaders, the latest information on domestic violence and human trafficking in Dayton, Ohio, the United States and around the globe, dynamic workshops and action plan design.  People of faith and others are urged to attend.
