Moderator's Moment
I'm back from a 4600 mile trip by car having left in March. On our way south, we attended several worship services. I must say, "Hats off to Knox Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, OH." Gail, my wife, and I attended their contemporary worship service on Sunday morning. They had about fifteen people providing the music with guitars, violin, drums, and vocalists. Their pastor gave his sermon theme to the lead person who created the music around that theme for the morning worship. One of the songs we sang, he wrote the music and words to bring out the scripture text. Furthermore, the music was supportive for congregational singing. It wasn't so loud that all one heard was the music from up front. Who attended this service? All ages were there sharing their life with one another. We were warmly welcomed. Yes, great things are happening within our Synod. In August Presbytery moderators are being invited to the Synod Assembly to share what their presbyteries are doing in the ministry of our Lord. God bless!

Committee on Local Arrangements (COLA)

DETROIT, MI

The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) meets biennially in even-numbered years. It consists of commissioners elected by each of its 173 presbyteries. The GA is full of activities: business sessions, committee meetings, an exhibit hall, daily worship services, and mission tours sponsored by the  Committee on Local Arrangements.

The assembly acts on hundreds of items of business, which it receives through the reports and recommendations of various assembly entities, and through overtures from synods and presbyteries.

The 221st General Assembly (2014) will be held in Detroit, Michigan -  June 14 - 21.
