Shining a Spotlight
Lake Havasu City Starts by Believing!
EVAWI is delighted to shine a spotlight on Lake Havasu City, the most recent Arizona community to launch a
Start by Believing campaign. With the House Proclamation read from the floor of the State Legislature in April - and all of the cities, counties, and campuses following suit - Arizona is truly proving itself to be a Start by Believing state.

Lake Havasu City

Mayor Mark S. Nexsen kicked off the campaign in Lake Havasu City by signing a proclamation - declaring the community's support for Start by Believing. The City Council then showed the Start by Believing slideshow and proclaimed their support.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department showed
their support by being the first law enforcement agency in the country to prominently display Start by Believing decals on the back window of all their patrol cars. They also proudly feature the Start by
Believing message on their agency's home page.

These efforts reflect collaborative work by the Lake Havasu City Police Department and the HAVEN Family Resource Center - all to ensure that survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones know their community Starts by Believing.

We are pleased to recognize Lake Havasu City for their commitment to survivors of sexual assault, and for spreading the Start by Believing message.  We particularly want to applaud the community for their creativity and innovation.  Congratulations!

Arizona is truly leading the way for us to become a Start by Believing nation.
