Race weekend is now just over a week away.  We hope you are enjoying your taper and that your travel and lodging plans are in place.  Don't forget to review important Race Weekend Instructions by clicking HERE

Below are some final bits of information for you.
    
Event Changes
There are limited opportunities to "downgrade" to either the 9-Miler or 5K.  These must be done at the expo on Friday or Saturday of race weekend.  Pick-up the bib for the event you are currently registered for and take it to the Solutions Desk on the same floor where the transfer will be processed.  There are no available spots in the 21-Miler or 10.6-Miler.
  
Bibs cannot be given or sold to another person.
  
Adding Members to Relay Teams
The deadline for adding members to an existing relay team is Friday, April 18, at midnight.  To join an existing team, click on the "Register Now" button found on the homepage at www.bsim.org.  Once at Active.com, select the Relay Team Member category.  The member will need to know the team name and password of the team they are joining.  If a team captain is planning to run on a team, he/she must join that team as a member; being a captain does not automatically make one a member.  After online registration closes, any further members will have to be added to their team race weekend at the Expo.
  
At the Expo
  • Runners are encouraged to bring any type of shoe to the donation area at the Sports Basement booth.  From here, shoes will be donated to a local charity, Gateway Center, who will send them to  third-world countries where impoverished people can learn a trade in refurbishing shoes.  
  • Both Pasta Party and Post-Race Celebration Party tickets will be on sale at the Expo for $25 in the bib pick-up area.  The Pasta Party at the Monterey Marriott on Saturday, April 26, at either 4:30 or 5:30 PM, offers a wide range of food and beverages along with prize drawings and entertainment.  New this year is a gluten-free pasta option.  The Post-Race Party is on race day from 4:40 to 7:30 PM at the same location and offers light hors d'oeuvres and a free beverage.

Watch for our Virtual Race Bag coming this Monday, April 21!  Your bag will contain discounts on Big Sur merchandise, local spas, CamelBak products and much more. 

 

MarathonFoto for Your Race Weekend Photos

Big Sur is the perfect venue for great pictures with the perfect backdrop!  Our friends at MarathonFoto have released their official photography location course map HERE.  Remember to smile when you see the MarathonFoto photographers and then visit HERE after the event to view your pictures.

 

The Monterey Herald Wants to Hear From You!

Film Screening During Race Weekend

"Spirit of the Marathon II," a documentary feature film portraying the stories of six marathon runners in the Rome Marathon, will be screened on Saturday, April 26.  Lazarex Cancer foundation is partnering with Julie Weiss, Marathon Goddess, and one of the producers of Spirit of the Marathon II, Gwendolen Twist, to hold this special screening with a reception to follow at The Museum of Monterey on Saturday, April 26, from 4:30 t0 7:30 PM.  Proceeds will benefit the Lazarex Cancer Foundation.

 

Free Runner Tracking

Track up to three runners at no charge on our mobile app for iPhone and Android.  Search for BSIM Events to download the app. 

 

Online Registration Ends Soon
If you have friends or family planning on doing an event, online registration for the 9-Miler and 5K will end at midnight on Friday, April 18.  The final day for 3K online registration will be Wednesday, April 23, at midnight.  Registration for these events will resume at the Expo on Friday, April 25 from noon - 6 PM and Saturday, April 26, from 9 AM to 6 PM (9-Miler and 5K only).  There will be race morning registration on Saturday for the 3K beginning at 6:30 AM at Lovers Point Park in Pacific Grove and for the 5K and 9-Miler (if not sold out) at the Marathon Finish Village beginning at 6:30 AM on Sunday, April 27.
