NEXT MONTH: WSCC CONNECT
NEW SERVICES COMING SOON!

WSCC Connect keeps expanding! After celebrating its first birthday this month, WSCC Connect is adding two new features to our online e-business.

Report Payroll: submit your Annual Payroll Report (APR, formerly known as the Employer Payroll Statement) online!

Permits: Apply for Mining Permits, the first of which is for a Permit to Operate a Diesel Engine Underground.

You can access WSCC Connect in the comforts of your own home or office, on-the-go on your mobile device, and even through a self-serve kiosk located at the Yellowknife head office.

These two services join the five other existing ones: Make a Payment, Obtain a Clearance, View Assessment Rates, Register Your Business, and Report Unsafe Work. Join us next month to find out more about these two new services!
FREE FIRST AID TRAINING
ADDITIONAL CLASSES NOW AVAILABLE

Thank you for your interest in our free two-day First Aid courses! Due to popular demand, we are offering additional classes in communities with higher interest.

The WSCC has secured a list of certified First Aid Providers, who are available to travel to the communities listed below - as long as there is a minimum of 12 registrants per class (maximum class size is 16 registrants). To register, please look at the list below and click on the community you wish to receive training. Follow the instructions to register your interest:
Once the minimum number of registrations for any given community is reached, the WSCC will contact registrants to confirm their availability and venue.

There is no cost for participants to attend the training. Participants are responsible for their own costs to travel to and from the sessions.
WSCC WEBSITE EVALUATION
HOW ARE WE DOING?

There's nothing worse than going online to try to find information and getting stuck in a never-ending cycle of clicking through pages. The WSCC wants to make sure that your experience with our website is positive and productive.

If you have five minutes, please take a look at our survey and give us your input! Tell us what you like, and let us know how we can improve.

It is important for us that our stakeholders receive the best experience possible online. After all, our mission is in partnership with stakeholders, we ensure workplace safety, and care for workers.

We're looking forward to partnering with you on this specific request.
PROPOSED CHANGES
TO THE WORKERS' COMPENSATION ACTS

The WSCC requests feedback from interested parties regarding proposed changes to the Workers' Compensation Acts for the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The proposed changes will not change the rights, duties, and obligations of employers and workers, but instead will make the Acts easier to understand and apply.

We encourage interested parties to provide feedback using the questionnaire, which also contains background information, available on our website. Dates for upcoming public consultations in Iqaluit and Yellowknife are:

Iqaluit: Wednesday, November 9, 7:00-9:00 PM
Hotel Arctic, Caribou Room

Yellowknife:
Thursday, November 17, 7:00-9:00 PM
Yellowknife Public Library - Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Centre Square Mall

Want to find out more about the proposed changes to the Workers' Compensation Acts, or have questions? Contact our Legal Counsel, Emerald Murphy at 867-669-4424 or by email.

All responses are held in confidence. The deadline for submitting the completed questionnaire is Friday, December 9, 2016.
PROPOSED SAFETY TICKETS & FINES
FOR NON-COMPLIANCE WITH OHS REGULATIONS

The WSCC is consulting with stakeholders about introducing a system of tickets and fines for non-compliance with some of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations.

Interested parties can read the discussion paper and provide their feedback using the feedback form available on our website.

Want to find out more about our proposed tickets and fines, or have questions? Contact our Legal Counsel, Emerald Murphy at 867-669-4424 or by email.

WSCC STAKEHOLDER SURVEY
REMINDER: YOU MAY BE CALLED

If you've been contacted by telephone this month from representatives of the WSCC, you were randomly selected to participate in the 2016 WSCC Stakeholder Survey. As mentioned last month, Leger, a Canadian research company, is tasked with calling employers and workers, and are conducting these surveys until mid-November.

The WSCC conducts stakeholder surveys with employers and workers once every three years. The surveys provide the WSCC with important information on stakeholders' awareness and satisfaction of WSCC services. It helps us focus on the issues that are important to stakeholders and the results feed into our strategic planning process. The survey results support the Governance Council and administration with decision-making on strategic priorities. The results in the survey are also used to assess our performance on several key performance indicators in our Strategic Plan.

If you receive a call from Leger, we thank you for your participation.
