Winter Programs by Sally Tornow, Public Services Librarian
NMPL has many programs coming up, in addition to our regularly scheduled ones, but first I want to mention two services we offer that you may have missed and also one upcoming new one.
Are you looking to learn something, but don't want to pay for a course on it? We offer over 500 FREE instructor-led courses on pretty much anything you might want to learn. It's called Universal Class and you can access it 24/7 online through our website with an NMPL library card.
The other service we offer is downloadable ebooks, also through our website. It is now available on Nooks and Sony Readers, as well as the Kindle Fire, iPad, iPhone, any pc, and android devices.
Right away, starting January 3rd, Adult Winter Reading will be back! Full Story |

Tax Time by Margaret Kistinger, Reference and Information Services Librarian
It's that time of year again! As tax season approaches patrons will be asking for forms and tax related information such as instruction booklets. The following bulletin was sent from the IRS to NMPL Reference:
"The IRS is aware of the great interest in the 2012 tax forms, instructions and publications, and therefore, is shipping tax products as they become available. Please note that instruction booklets may arrive weeks after tax forms this year. The IRS website at www.IRS.gov is the most up-to-date source for federal tax products and information.
Forms will appear on the website before printed copies are available. Patrons wishing to print copies from the IRS website may do so from our computer stations for 15 cents a page. Full Story |
