A weekly update of happenings in the Forest Grove School District
Meet Our Staff: Beth Wilbur, Neil Armstrong Middle School
With nearly 600 full- and part-time staff members, Forest Grove School District is a large organization, and it can be difficult to know everyone. Meet Our Staff is a weekly feature to help you learn more about your colleagues.

Meet Beth Wilbur, Neil Armstrong Middle School

Kudos to FGHS Staff For Alert Response
Kudos to Forest Grove High School staff for their quick response today to a report of a student possibly having a gun on campus. As it turned out, the report was false, and a student was taken into custody for initiating a false police report. But the positive news is that staff took the right steps in taking the accusation seriously, immediately going into lockdown and following district protocols for a lockdown.

After situations like this - especially following news of the tragedy at Umpqua Community College -- parents' concerns are heightened about the safety of their children while at school. We have posted on Peachjar and on the district website a flyer outlining our Standard Response Protocol. This is a good resource if parents talk with you about safety concerns.  Standard Response Protocol

Have You Downloaded The District Mobile App?
If you haven't yet downloaded the district's free mobile app, now is a good time to do it! And if you already have downloaded the app, go to the App Store for an update to see the new look and features. The mobile app is a great way to stay current on school and district news, calendars, sports schedules and scores and more. It includes staff directories for each school and other useful information.

To download the app, go to the App Store or Google Play and search for "FGSD." Select "Free" and then "Install." Once it has installed, open it and swipe it to the left to see the various information modules.

Go to "Settings" to select your language preference. You can customize the information you receive (news, calendars, school flyers, etc.) by school. To customize the calendar, for instance, open the calendar icon, select the "gear" in the upper right corner and then select the schools whose calendars you wish to follow.

One important function of the app is the tip line. The tip line is a way for students, staff and community to let us know about things going on in our schools, both positive and negative.
News tips?
Help us share news about the interesting things happening in our schools and classrooms. Email Connie Potter if you have an event coming up or are doing an interesting project in your classroom. It's great to let our community know about what's happening in our schools and also highlight the innovative ways teachers teach and students learn.
