HOW CAN WE BUILD STRONGER
WEBS OF SUPPORT FOR OUR KIDS?
Parents invited to forum Thursday at Neil Armstrong Middle School

Parents and other community members are encouraged to attend a community forum Thursday, Jan. 29 to learn how to build stronger webs of support for young people. The meeting will be from 6-8 p.m. in the gym at Neil Armstrong Middle School, 1777 Mountain View Lane.

The presenter will be Derek Peterson, a national leader in youth development who leads Helping Kids Succeed initiatives across the U.S. He is founder of the International Institute for Student Support, which developed the Student Support Card --a comprehensive program that measures "the other side of the report card."

This will be Derek's third visit to Forest Grove School District. He was here in 2009 and 2004 to work with students, staff and parents on the importance of the 40 Developmental Assets. The 40 Development Assets, identified by the Search Institute of Minnesota, are a list of 40 research-based, positive qualities that influence young people's development.
