2012 has been a successful and significant year for Godparents for Tanzania. There has been much to celebrate with graduations from secondary school, college, university and more! In June, it was our joy to meet Daniela, the infant daughter of our very first student, Daniel Rausen Massawe.
In 1998, Daniel was a high school student. He came from a poor, single-parent family, and so his dream of becoming a doctor seemed impossible. With the help of a number of sponsors, we provided a scholarship for Daniel to finish high school and medical school. Fourteen years later, Daniel is an orthopedic surgeon--one of very few in Tanzania. He is saving and improving the lives of thousands of patients, and he is helping his younger sister finish college.
This is what can we can do together. When each of us shares just a little of our abundance, we can help young people in Tanzania achieve their dreams and create better lives for their families and their communities.
Thank you to all who have already contributed to our year-end fund appeal! Your gifts enable us to keep 30 students in college and 60 more in secondary school. If you have not yet taken the opportunity to make a gift to Godparents for Tanzania, we invite you to consider doing so today. There are still a few days left to make a tax deductible, year-end gift that will help us assist another young person who hopes to become a doctor like Daniel or a nurse, a physician's assistant or a teacher.
We believe in "Hope through Education." We know you do, too. Please join us in offering that hope to many more young people in Tanzania in the year to come.
Asante sana na Mungu akubariki sana!
(Swahili for, "Thank you very much and may God bless you greatly!")
