Transportation Doesn't Take a Holiday
As we look back on our busy holiday shopping, we take for granted the stores that were open and the product that was on the shelves. We expect our packages to be delivered before Christmas Eve and we expect the stores to be open and have that last forgotten item in stock. During other holiday time we want convenience stores to be open as we travel to see family for Memorial Day or 4th of July. Everyone wants to have access to all the everyday services while they are on vacation, but somebody has to deliver those goods.
Anything and everything that sits on a store shelf was on a truck at some point. In today's on-demand and convenience driven society, that means shippers are almost 24/7, 365 days a year and truck drivers have to do the same. America's truck drivers would like to be home with their families during the holidays, but many of them are on the road delivering the goods that keep our economy moving.
Allen Lund Company has offices from coast to coast and we are working with our shippers on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and every other holiday of the year; with cell phones at the ready in case our drivers need assistance even on Christmas Day. Commerce never stops and neither does the transportation industry. Be sure to give a kind wave as you pass a big rig on your way to grandma's house over the next holiday break!
