Tis the Season...for a Coke

As we head into the holiday of Christmas, we will gather together with our family and friends. We will be enjoying our gifts, food, and a beverage of your choice. One popular beverage that is consumed throughout the U.S. is Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola was invented in late 1886 by John Pemberton, a Confederate Colonel from the Civil War. The original purpose Pemberton had for Coke was to be used as a patent medicine. On May 8, 1886 the first sale of Coca-Cola was at Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Coca-Cola Company began using Santa's image in the 1920's. Since 1931, Coca-Cola has been prevalent in the minds of many people around Christmas time. The first advertisement that came out showed Santa drinking a bottle of Coke. The image was first advertised in The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies Home Journal, and other magazines. In 1995, the Coca- Cola Christmas trucks were created as a new seasonal advertisement. Nowadays you might even be familiar with the the Coca-Cola polar bear advertisements, which actually first appeared in France in 1922.

At Allen Lund Company we ship hundreds of truck loads of Coca Cola product weekly throughout the U.S. to stores and warehouses. During Christmastime the production of Coke product increases due to all of the advertisement from commercials and ads.

So whatever your choice of beverage around the holiday, please take a moment to "Have a Coke and a smile."  Merry Christmas.
