ALC Carrier Spotlight
Angel Cardounel, and his wife Mercy, are the owners of Angel A Cardounel Transport. Angel and Mercy have been working in the trucking industry for 31 years.  Angel is a dedicated and hardworking owner operator based out of Bronson, Florida.

What type of trailers do you pull? I pull a dry van and a reefer.

How did you get started in trucking? I started as a local driver in Miami, FL.

What is  your favorite freight to haul? I love dry freight, especially potato chips because they usually give us bags to eat while we are loading!

What is your favorite part of the job? I just enjoy driving and being on the road.

Most challenging part of the job? Doing paperwork is the most challenging part of the job - Thank God for my wife Mercy who takes care of it for me.

If you weren't doing this, what else would you be doing? If I wasn't a driver, I think I would be involved in the mechanical side of the business such as working on trucks and owning my own shop.

How do you spend your free time? Hobbies? I spend my free time working on my truck and going fishing.

If you had one extra hour in the day, how would you spend it? I would spend it with my lovely wife, Mercy!

What is the best advice you've ever received? Work hard and get the job done.

How do you choose what freight to haul? I choose freight based on mileage and money.

Coolest/funniest/most interesting load you've ever hauled? About 15 years ago I helped a family move to a new location. I literally, hauled their entire house (washer, dryer, etc) on the back of my flatbed.

Do you belong to any trucking associations? Which ones? Yes, National Trucking Association.

Do you use social media for business purposes? (Twitter, facebook?) No

What's the most important trucking issue you see right now? The most important issue I see right now is electronic logbooks. I don't think we should be forced to use e-logs, it should be at the company's discretion to use them or not.
