The Allen Lund Company had the privilege of exhibiting at last month's Mid-America Trucking Show, in Louisville, KY. As I'm sure many readers of this publication already know, MATS is the largest annual industry event in the world involving heavy-duty trucking. Records were broken this year with over 81,000 attendees, visiting 1,000 exhibitors. This was a great year for the show. 2015 marked the 10th year that the Allen Lund Company exhibited with Big Al. He continues to be a great draw, working his usual magic by bringing smiles and grins to everyone.
Here were some of our highlights from the show:
-
Drivers stopped by our booth asking about available loads and backhauls.
-
Many new products were introduced: new driver seats, navigation systems, liftable axles, suspension kits, and much more.
-
The big trucking manufacturers had new or updated equipment to show off, including the new Super Truck from Daimler.
We would like to give a shout out to a few specific carriers that spent time with us at MATS: CC&C Trucking stopped by with their three grandchildren. CC&C is one of several ALC All Stars we caught up with who work closely with our Louisville ALC office. Two more of our ALC All Stars, Phillip Wells of TFT LLC and Chuck Snow, owner of Traffix, spent time at our booth as well. We also spoke to Timmy Meese of TWM Transport, along with David and Diane Bowers of Black Jack Express, who run for our Portland office. Thank you to Cory & Brandy Spencer of Spencer Transports, a carrier very involved with our Memphis office. Toni Rooney, our Memphis office manager working the show for ALC, played host while they visited. We had a booth staffed with folks from our Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, Louisville, Memphis, Portland and Corporate offices.
ALC continues to converse each year with OOIDA, developing a strong relationship with this important Owner-Operator organization. We are continuing our daily sponsorship of their Podcast via Land Line through 2015. NASTC was also on our must see stops and we were happy to spend some time with the folks from this association that addresses yet another component of our industry.
Not to be left out, we had a great visit with our friends at Wreaths Across America - an important effort and cause that we are proud to be a part of.
We look forward to 2016 and to meeting as many carriers as we can.
