We are proud to work with so many carriers and drivers that embrace the idea of giving back, and providing community service. The Allen Lund Company considers community service a key component to our company. We participate corporately on international, national, regional and local levels and encourage our ALC employees to give their time as well.
December is an especially important month for community service. The week of December 8th is a big one for the Allen Lund Company, with 2 major events taking place:
Navidad en el Barrio is an organization that for over 30 years, has provided a Christmas dinner to thousands of low-income families in the Southern California area. The Allen Lund Company has proudly participated for the past nine years by providing logistical support, with trucks transporting loads within California and Arizona to a warehouse for distribution. Additionally, we provide the transportation on the day of distribution to the agency locations so that the food baskets get to the 20,000 families. We want to thank carriers Wanship and J & E Arias who both have provided their services to assist with this important event. We have expanded our involvement with Navidad and our shipper-growers have been incredibly generous in adding fresh produce and vegetables to the food basket, which makes the meal more nutritional for those who receive.
Wreaths Across America (WAA*) is a non-profit organization that honors soldiers that have given their lives to protect our freedom by placing a wreath by the markers of over 750,000 of our nation's heroes. The wreaths are placed at National Cemeteries like Arlington but also at over 550 locations all over the US and the world. Places like Normandy, Bunker Hill and Pearl Harbor receive wreaths to honor the sacred ground that holds our nation's heroes. WAA's mission and vision is to "Remember, Honor and Teach." All year long they coordinate veteran services and recognition through a variety of programs. They provide schools with teaching aides to encourage children to remember the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedom. We are proud to support WAA and proud of all the time, equipment and money that carriers donate to deliver these wreaths to their final destination. With the transportation industry's support and generosity, WAA will continue to honor our national heroes.
