Deadline ahead for Adobe software users     |    Number 42
 
 

If you use Adobe graphics software such as Photoshop or Illustrator, you need to know about an important change Adobe is making and how to take advantage of a discount that expires on August 31.


Adobe is converting its Creative Suite products to a subscription system called the Creative Cloud instead of the traditional upgrade system. So instead of downloading a new version or buying it on DVD, you now must subscribe to the product for a monthly fee. Boxed or downloadable versions of these products won't be available after CS6.


But if you own Adobe CS products from CS3 to CS6 versions, you can subscribe to the Creative Cloud versions at discounted rates until August 31 and save up to $360. You can subscribe to the entire Creative Cloud or just individual programs if you prefer.

If you use these Adobe programs and plan to upgrade within the next year, you'll want to sign up before the August 31 deadline. 
 
If you've been wishing you had Creative Suite, but the cost kept you from owning it (a full version of CS6 lists for over $2400), there's some good news. You can subscribe to the full version of the Creative Cloud for about $50 per month, and individual programs like Photoshop for about $20.
