Make something shout
Brian Stoddard, NW Signs,
Redmond, WA
Driving home last night, I passed at least three wrapped vehicles. All suffered from a problem that's common to a lot of signs: The most important part of the message wasn't emphasized powerfully. On most signs, you have to make something shout at the reader for it to get their attention.

It's true of most every type of sign, not just wraps. Flip through any issue of SignCraft and take note of how these sign designers use emphasis to make that happen on sign after sign.

Many sign people are reluctant to do that: to make one part of the message obviously more important and powerful than the rest. You have to use contrast of size, weight and color to make the essential part of the message bark at the viewer. It's critical if you want to get the message to them, past all the other distractions on the road.
