REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS
Deep Eddy / Eilers Park Project
Budget: $56,400
Deadline: Wednesday, March 11, 2015, 5:00 pm, CST
The City of Austin seeks to commission a permanent exterior public artwork that reflects the iconic aspect of the adjoining Deep Eddy Pool and Eilers Park, is mindful of the historic values of the site, and establishes a threshold area between the parking lot and park facilities.
Eligibility: Professional visual artists who live and work in Williamson, Travis, Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Burnet and Blanco counties.Artists who currently have one active contract with the AIPP program or who have more than two permanent works in the AIPP Collection are ineligible to apply.
Artist Information Meeting
When: Tuesday, February 17 at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Where: Cultural Arts Division office at 201 E. 2nd Street
Staff will be on hand to answer questions about the project and the application process.
Free parking: If you park in the Austin Convention Center garage above the CAD office, we can give you a pass for parking. Enter the garage from Brazos or San Jacinto, between 2nd Street and Cesar Chavez.

People's Gallery 2015 Opening Reception

Where: Austin City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street, Austin, TX 78701
Join us for the 2015 Opening Reception and celebrate Austin's
creative talents at our free opening reception! Our 2015 exhibition features artworks by over 100 artists and special exhibits from United Way for Greater Austin, AISD Creative Learning Initiative students, and Art in Public Places. The People's Choice will be announced at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Featuring music by One Ounce Opera. The Ginger Armadillo food truck will be on site offering food for purchase.

Stop by the Cultural Arts Division offices (201 E. 2nd Street) on Friday, February 13th, anytime from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. AIPP staff will be available to discuss the open Calls to Artists or any other topic related to public art in Austin. No appointment necessary! |

AIPP invites the Montopolis community to meet the artists
commissioned to design and fabricate an artwork for the Montopolis Neighborhood Center. A preview of the proposed artwork will be on view and the artists will be on hand to listen to comments and answer questions.
The artist team of Amy Bunker, Foster Talge, and Travis Seeger were selected to build an exterior artwork for the Montopolis Neighborhood Center. The artwork budget is $42,000. The goals of the
public art project are to develop a family-friendly experience that is integrated into the campus, to engage facility users, and to reflect the diverse community
served by the Center.

Registration Open: Americans for the Arts Conference
When: June 12-14
Where: Chicago, IL
Register today for the 2015 Annual Convention, taking place June 12-14, 2015 in Chicago! Raising Artists: Mini-Conference

Raising Artists is a professional development program for artists at all stages of their creative pursuits. Courses will be offered throughout the year at locations around Austin.Morning topics include: 5 Legal Issues for Artists (content by Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts), Contracts, Commissions, & Clients, Business Models in the Art World. Afternoon discussion will be Creative Entrepreneurship.

ART IN PUBLIC PLACES PANEL MEETINGS
The AIPP Panel usually meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday of every month in the Cultural Arts Division Training Room at 201 E. 2nd Street. Come see artists presenting their design work, listen as panel members discuss upcoming opportunities for public art, and see how the whole process happens from start to finish!
AUSTIN ARTS COMMISSION MEETINGS
The Arts Commission usually meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Monday of every month. After the AIPP Panel votes on a project or an upcoming opportunity, the Austin Arts Commission reviews and decides which projects and opportunities move forward.
