Reflections on the Brazos by Ryah Christensen
Reflections on the Brazos, in fabrication
Artist Ryah Christensen is busy fabricating her embedded tile mosaic sidewalk enhancement for the northwest corner of 2nd and Brazos, to be installed later this fall. The piece, entitled Reflections on the Brazos, pays homage to the well-traveled Brazos River corridor, along which herds of people and animals pressed against real and imagined frontiers. The piece provides a visual reminder, through its images of migrating populations melded with hills, valleys, waterways, and paths, of how this river's history has flowed.

community engagement strategies and how food (its growth or consumption) naturally brings people together; challenges and rewards of working with food; maintaining artistic integrity while tackling complex social, political and environmental issues; the role of promotion and media; intended/unintended outcomes and measuring success of food-based art projects.
