i see you/you see me

This installation, in place from April 24 to May 4 in Gaines Creek Park, used 1000 computer programed LEDs to mimic the mating ritual of fireflies. By combining nature and technology, the artwork offered the viewer an opportunity to reflect on the natural phenomena in a man-made way. Click here to see the video!

Project Spotlight
Belting It Out
Lady Bird Lake Boardwalk Grand Opening
When: Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m.
Where: Lakeshore Trailhead, eastern end of the Boardwalk
Artist Ken Little has been creating new artwork for the Lady Bird Lake Boardwalk Trail that opens Saturday June 7 at 10 am.. Belting It Out is an installation of 36 cast bronze western-style belts integrated into the railing on both sides of the new boardwalk. Embossed on each belt is a lyric fragment from a well-known Texas singer or songwriter. The artist hopes that these fragments will become "ear worms" (catchy phrases stuck in our imaginations) evoking stories and memories as well as reminding us of the strong association Austin has to Texas music.

Come help celebrate the opening of the new Boardwalk, meet artist Ken Little, and see if you aren't inspired to hum a little tune!
