2013 has been a stellar year for public art. Please take a look below at artworks added to the Art in Public Places collection in the last year!

Crystalline, one of four sculptures by artists Dharmesh Patel and Autumn Ewalt ( Animalis Works), located at the northeast corner of Colorado and 4th streets. Three more sculptures will be installed along Colorado Street in early 2014.

Pedestrian Geometries by artist Erin Curtis, located along 3rd Street between San Jacinto and Brazos. Many more to be installed as the streetscape is completed along 3rd Street.

Other Opportunities and Events

The Contemporary Austin is pleased to announce the call for participants to be considered for its 2014 Visiting Lecturer Series. This series brings several internationally renowned arts professionals to Austin to conduct studio visits with selected artists and to present a free public lecture. The Visiting Lecturer Series allows Austin artists to have their work reviewed by a variety of distinguished arts professionals. Click here for eligibility and more information. Applications are due Monday, January 13.

Funding your Work
Creative Capital Workshop
When: Saturday, February 8, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Where: The Contemporary Austin, Laguna Gloria
Eligibility: Open to artists working in all disciplines in central Texas; must have at least 3-5 years of professional activity outside of degree-granting program; must be committed to attending the entire workshop
Pending application acceptance, attend a free one-day professional development workshop led by Creative Capital facilitators/artists Aaron Landsman and Dread Scott. There are currently about 20 available slots.

The City of Austin Art in Public Places program acquires and maintains works of art for City facilities and parks through commissions, donations and loans for the cultural enrichment of the Austin community. ART IN PUBLIC PLACES PANEL MEETINGS
The AIPP Panel usually meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday of every month at City Hall, room 1029. Come see artists presenting their design work, listen as panel members discuss upcoming opportunities for public art, and see how the whole process happens from start to finish!
AUSTIN ARTS COMMISSION MEETINGS The Arts Commission usually meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Monday of every month at City Hall, Council Chambers. After the AIPP Panel votes on a project or an upcoming opportunity, the Austin Arts Commission reviews their work and decides which projects and opportunities move forward.
