Greetings! 

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those in the Northeast still recovering from the recent storm. Born and raised in NJ and surgically trained in NY, I can tell you that NJ/NY'rs are a tough and resilient folk but, like most Americans, will reach out to help one another when necessary. Restaurants are donating meals, strangers are opening their doors, and people from across the nation have sent donations. Just today, NYC has set aside thousands of bleacher seats along today's parade route for families affected by Superstorm Sandy for what is most likely a much-needed break from their recovery efforts.

 

Although it's traditionally a U.S. holiday, no matter where you might be in the world, you can celebrate Thanksgiving today.

 

While it may not necessarily be the traditional Thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest before the long winter... it might be something else. A modern Thanksgiving celebrates our connections with others: the people in our lives who give us the support we need to move forward, as well as the opportunities we have to enrich the lives of others by providing that support to them.

 

Personally, I'm thankful for being surrounded by creative, skilled and passionate people that are always striving to better serve our patients and others, and I'm thankful for those who put their trust in us to do so. The opportunity to invent, build, create, make connections and contribute something worth contributing is something that we don't take lightly---for that, we are thankful.
