March with the Stop Police Crimes float in the 2015 Bud Billiken Parade on Saturday, August 8. We are marching for an elected Civilian Police
Accountability Council (CPAC)--for community control of the Chicago Police.

The Bud Billiken is one of the largest African American parades in the US. Our previous participation generated huge support from the 1.5 million in attendance, this year is the first time we have a float and we anticipate an even warmer reception!

The more people we have accompanying the float the more powerful the message promoting the campaign for community control of the police and the August 29th mass protest "This Stops Today!...We Can't Breathe" 12 noon, Federal Plaza

Parade Details:

When:
8.45am - 9:30am Saturday August 8th - we meet before the parade begins

Where:   Popeye's Chicken, 300 E 35th St (corner of 35th & Calumet Street)
CTA Greenline, get off at 35th Street stop.

At 9:30am sharp we leave for the float area

Unfortunately we cannot provide ride space on the float. The parade route ends at Washington Park and most likely it will be a long hot day, please bring water and a hat!  We also invite people who are not walking with the float to join our Stop Police Crimes booth located on 55th Street, east of MLK Drive on the southside of the street near the park field house. CTA Greenline, get off at 55th St (Garfield stop)

A Stop Police Crimes T-Shirt to the first 100 marchers who arrive at Popeye's Chicken the morning of the parade.

A big shoutout to Elephant Rebellion and all the artists who are donating their hand work and artistic brilliance to building the first ever Stop Police Crimes float, their creative solidarity rocks our hearts!

Stop Police Crimes is a campaign of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression organizing for CPAC with Chicago neighborhoods so that oppressed communities that bear the burden of the current police occupation are empowered.
