Mr Emmett Farmer - father of Flint Farmer, murdered by CPD Officer, Gildardo Sierra
WhyWHY WE SIGNED THE CPAC PETITION -
An Appeal from Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Farmer

Our son, Flint Farmer, was murdered by a Chicago Police
Department officer, Gildardo Sierra, over two years ago.
Our son was on the ground face down and unarmed, when
Sierra shot him in the back three times; the murder was
recorded live on police squad car video. Nonetheless,
the police review authority in Chicago has taken no action,
and States Attorney Anita Alvarez has declined to prosecute
the officer responsible -- exactly what has happened in every
one of the over 70 other police murders since 2009.
It's time for a change!  That's why we're asking you to support
the call for a civilian board to investigate and prosecute
police abuse in Chicago.
ABriefA BRIEF LOOK BACK AT HOW OUR MOVEMENT GOT STARTED

We are experiencing significant victories in addressing this system - including legal remedies in specific cases and strong progress organizing (including 250 attendees at the 2nd Peoples Hearing on Police Crimes and 500 at the August 28 march). We are now moving forward with a campaign to bring about systemic change, starting with a Call to the affected communities and known victims of police crimes and torture to create and empower an elected Civilian Police Accountability Council (CPAC)... The Fight for the Torture Victims Must Continue!
Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission Meeting
Wednesday, March 19, 2014 @ 3pm
Illinois State Building, 100 W Randolph, ROOM 9-040

An urgent call to everyone to attend this meeting and support the fight for justice for all police torture victims! We need your presence in the room on this date tocounter increasing pressure from organizing crime victims, who are demanding the Torture Commission reexamines it's procedures and limits it's review of torture cases. There is great danger that past gains made for torture victims will be lost, hindering the rights of all torture victims to have a fair and impartial hearing. Come and show your stand for justice, strength in unity is required to stop this unjust watering down of Torture Commission policies.
