Rabbi's Message
5/11/2016  - 3 Iyar 5776

This weekend, as per usual, there is much wonderful stuff going on at TES.

Friday Night is Shabbat Shirah, our popular and profound monthly musical service welcoming Shabbat. The service begins at 7:00pm. This Spring and Summer during Shabbat Shirah Fridays from 6:30-7:00pm in the library (immediately before the service), I will be offering mini-teachings on some of the Kabbalat Shabbat prayers. This week, we will look at Lecha Dodi.

Saturday morning there will be Torah Study at 9:00am, followed by a Shabbat morning service from 10:00am till Noon, that will weave in celebratory themes of Parashat Kedoshim (the famous Torah portion referred to as "the holiness code') and Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day.

Sunday sees the continuation of our Pirkei Avot series, with Marty Towbin teaching the third installment, "How a Person Becomes a Mensch" from 11:30-12:30 in the library. Also, our Yom Ha'Atzmaut observance continues on Sunday, which is the last day of Shul School for the year. The congregation at large is invited to join the Shul School families for any part of the festivities, including 11:00am soccer with former Israeli professional soccer player, Meir Lewin, and Israeli folkdancing at 12:30pm with Rabbi Vanessa Boettiger, Bari Frimkiss, and Jordan Saturen.

 L'shalom,

Rabbi Joshua Boettiger
