Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Snow Day!

Our Valentine's wish for you:

We hope that you are enjoying quality time playing in the snow with your children before it all melts away.

Thoughts from Dr. Laura Markham on Valentine's Day and parenting:
"What does Valentine's Day have to do with parenting?  Love. The purpose of Valentines Day is to celebrate love of all kinds. The purpose of parenting, quite obviously, is to raise children. But I believe that parenting has a secret purpose -- to transform us, the parents. Loving our child helps us to heal ourselves, so that we can live more fully. "

Join The Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) with Faucette Farms

Have you ever noticed a white delivery truck parked on the hill at GMS every Wednesday afternoon, and wondered what it was and why it was there?  The truck is from Faucette Farms, a local farm that delivers a generous bag or box of fresh, organic produce to GMS families that are members of the CSA program.  Faucette Farms has a large greenhouse and covered rows that allow them to offer members a wide variety of produce to choose from each week, all year round. They also offer dried beans, ham, farm fresh eggs, cheese, and local honey.

Here are some highlights-- The Faucette Farms CSA Program is:
-Affordable -- A regular-sized share (family of 4) is $18 per week ($216 for 12 weeks), large share is $23 per week ($276 for 12 weeks), and an extra-large share is $32 per week ($384 for 12 weeks).  Members sign up for a share in increments of 12 weeks.

-Convenient --  The bags of produce are delivered right to GMS every Wednesday afternoon on the hill between 2:30-4:00pm during pick-up.  If you can't make it during that time, the bags will be left in the GMS office for you to pick up by 6:00pm that evening.

-Flexible -- If you are going to be out of town, just let Polly Evans, the Product Manager, know, and you can skip that week.  Or, if you are having a dinner party and need additional food, you can request two weeks worth of produce.  Deliveries are also made during the summer, so you can enjoy fresh produce all year long.

-Healthy -- The produce from Faucette Farms is certified organic.

-Personalized -- Every Sunday or Monday, go online (www.myfreshproduce.com) and select the produce you would like for the Wednesday delivery date.  There are several pages of seasonal produce from which to choose.  Or, you also have the option of letting the farm choose for you by indicating you would like "Farm Choice" in the online additional information box.

We can only have up to 50 families participate in this program, so if you are interested in joining, please contact Polly Evans at Faucette Farms as soon as possible at (336)669-5083, then mail her a check and completed application form to:  Polly Evans, Faucette Farms, 5112 Hwy 150 East, Brown Summit, NC  27214.  Applications may be picked up in the GMS office or filled out online at www.myfreshproduce.com under the CSA Sign-up Form tab.  After you sign up, then go online to www.myfreshproduce.com and place your first order.  Orders should be placed online by the Sunday or Monday before the drop-off on Wednesday.

As an added incentive, Faucette Farms is offering current CSA members  one free week for each new member they sign up (make sure friends say you referred them, then once the friend pays for 12 weeks, you get one free week!).  Polly let us know that one of her members signed up 12 new members and received her next 12 weeks for free -- what a great opportunity!

Questions? Please contact GMS parent Ellen Lloyd at 255-2931 or Polly Evans, Faucette Farms Product Manager at 669-5083.  Look forward to seeing you at the Faucette Farms truck picking up your bag of produce very soon!
