Service of Commendation for Unused Bibles
Do you have Bibles in your home or worship center that are unusable due to age or damage, etc. and unsure what to do with them?  You are invited to participate in a service of commendation on  Thursday, July 7, 2016,  11 a.m. at  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Thanks to the generosity of Bob Eastgate and Eastgate Funeral Service, a vault at Sunset Memorial Gardens will provide the resting place and burial ground for such unusable Bibles.   Eastgate Funeral Service kindly provides this donation of planning, site and labor.  To participate in this service, simply attend the July 7 event and place your offered Bible "at graveside". Pastor Perry Schnabel, Calvary United Methodist in Bismarck and Pastor Rebecca Aardahl, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck will lead a brief Service of Committal.  Questions? Please contact Eastgate Funeral Service at 223-7322.

Bag o' Books!
Planting seeds of generosity!  Have you been looking for ways to revive or rev up stewardship in your congregation?  Have we got a FREE deal for you!  Western North Dakota Synod's Stewardship Table is offering a "bag o' books" - terrific stewardship books, as it happens :) - to your council... or study group... or circle of friends.... or even one copy just to you, yourself.  Use them, study them, talk about them.  Join us online for a group read (will be announced on facebook and in the Synod E-news) and chime in with your questions and comments!

If you liked the book - if you found yourself marking it up and found it a great help and will refer to it often - by all means, keep it.  If you want to let it go on to someone else, to "seed" growth in their life, then give it back to us and we will give it out again.  Or you can!

We have 10-15 copies of these books to give out:
Enough by Adam Hamilton
Ask, Thank, Tell by Charles Lane
Your New Money Mindset by Brad Hewitt and James Moline

Simply call the synod office (701-223-5312) and ask for Lisa Ahlness to arrange for your copy or bag o' books!  :)

Opening the Book of Faith
By:  Diane Jacobson, Mark Allen Powell, and Stan Olson

Description:
This book, Opening the Book of Faith, is your invitation to engage in this vision. Through this book and through this initiative, we will be called to experience more fully the power of the Word and to recall or learn anew the Lutheran approaches to Scripture that have been so fruitful over the centuries. In chapter 1, Stan Olson explores how Lutherans think of God's powerful Word and why we talk of the Bible as a Book of Faith. In chapter 2, Mark Allan Powell introduces how Lutheran insights help us open up the Bible. In chapter 3, you will be introduced to four approaches to studying the Bible that can be used in concert to deepen and broaden your experience in Bible study. You are then invited to experience the power of studying biblical texts together through four group Bible studies.
