| Have Respect for the Game
|
Kids love to play soccer. And our referees help keep the game safe and enjoyable for them. This video demonstrates how things can get carried away quickly and can ruin the game for everyone.

VSA Partners with the Philadelphia Union for 2013
VSA is proud to announce its partnership with the Philadelphia Union during the 2013 season.
"Aligning our organization with the Union as a Youth Soccer Partner presents VSA with several benefits," states Andy Spirt, VSA President.
Union players and their Mobile Tour that includes interactive inflatables giveaways and promotional items will appear at the VSA's Memorial Day Tournament. In addition, coaches will have the opportunity to attend coaching clinics held by the Union throughout the year and opportunities for VSA members to attend Union matches at PPL Park during the 2013 season.

Trainer Highlight - Dori Bryson
As part of a continuing series VSA will routinely profile one of the top level professional trainers employed here in town. This issue's trainer is Dori Bryson.
The easiest way to describe Dori's soccer career is "successful". She played youth soccer here in Voorhees, winning NJ state championships twice. Her Haddon Twp high school team also won the state title. Dori was later inducted into the athletic hall of fame. After her college time in Florida, she continues to excel at the adult level, winning two PA State and national titles with Danubia Philadelphia playing in the USL.
For the last 15 years, Dori has brought this penchant for success to her role as a trainer. Through her boundless energy she conveys her vast soccer knowledge to the youth players under her care. The first VSA team she trained moved from the bottom division in the SJGSL to Olympic conference champions. Many of these players continue to play in college. If you ask her about it she'll just say she "has a love for the game", but it's clearly more than that. Having worked with boys & girls, young and old teams with 5 area soccer clubs, her abilities are in high demand.

Voorhees Memorial Day Classic Is May 24-27
VSA hosts an annual travel soccer tournament over Memorial Day weekend each year. The event draws close to 200 teams from the tri-state area and event proceeds support VSA travel teams as well as the intramural program.
The tournament committee has already begun preparation with 2013 marking the event's 21st year. "The event was a huge success last year," states Christian Blasberg, Tournament Director, "and I anticipate an even better one this year. Our event is one of the best tournaments in the region and we are exploring ways to take it to the next level."
Lou Shapiro returns as Assistant Tournament Director with Heather Ems joining the team as the second Assistant Tournament Director. "In addition to Heather, we've expanded the committee this year to allow more people to become involved and help the event grow," adds Blasberg.
Registration for the event opened January 8 in an effort to get an earlier start and attract more teams. Look for additional tournament news and updates in upcoming newsletters, like us on Facebook, or visit www.voorheesmemorialdayclassic.comInterested in helping with the Memorial Day Classic?
