It's Hot in Hawai'i
Saving water while keeping your lawn healthy is the topic of this summer issue, as we learn about lawn care methods from Master Gardeners in Maryland, and from the professionals at the Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii. The good news is that many of these water conservation measures can leave you with more time for the beach, the golf course, or whatever else you enjoy about this beautiful season in the islands.

Fruit Fly Control in Hawaii's Farms and Gardens (Training Video)
Rather than eradication, the Hawaii Area-Wide Fruit Fly (HAW-FLY), was planned as an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program. HAW-FLY's package of control techniques includes
- Knowledge of the Fruit Fly lifecycle
- Practicing sanitation
- Trapping with fruit fly lures
- Applying spot applications of GF-120 NF Naturalyte™ Fruit Fly Bait
This video is available online and offered to home gardeners to watch at their convenience to be familiar with each of these control techniques. Please remind home gardeners, this is a 1-2-3 step. Simply using only one of the steps will not be as effective as using all three. Oahu MGs require home gardeners to watch this video or attend a workshop in person prior to visiting the Helpline office to purchase a Lure or GF-120 Bait.
