Online Client Portal Up and Running

As we mentioned in our last newsletter, in an effort to give our customers the most up-to-date information regarding their portfolio performance, Financial Fiduciaries is now offering clients a new web portal called Client View. The portal can be accessed through a link on our website (similar to how you access custodial reports). It contains our holdings report from prior month end and performance reports from the prior quarter end. We will also share other information, including specially requested reports, tax information, etc. Additionally, this is an excellent way to send and receive secure documents and messages to and from your Financial Fiduciaries advisor.

At the end of Q1, we informed our clients about the launch of this portal. If you still need portal access or would like additional information, please contact us today!

Out and about with Financial Fiduciaries - Updates from the
NAPFA Spring Conference

Travis

At Financial Fiduciaries, one of the best ways we can serve our clients is to make sure that, as advisors, we are at the forefront of industry happenings, news, events and important items that will impact their financial outlook. With that in mind, every year, we have the opportunity to attend the NAPFA Spring Conference.

According to NAPFA, this industry event is created exclusively for fee-only planners. In addition to excellent educational opportunities it a great place to network with other like-minded advisors from around the country. The conference, which was aptly themed "Shaping Behavior," took place from May 14-16 in Salt Lake City. It featured countless speakers and educational sessions on everything from tips to better serve our clients to compliance issues, industry trends and advice on helping the client build a solid portfolio.

The Anatomy of "FREE" - What it REALLY Means

We all love getting something for free. It doesn't really matter what it is, or even if we need it...what matters most is that it is free. It seems like rational thinking to most people. However, when we really consider the perceived value of what we received and what it "actually" cost us, it could be a completely different story.

In the book Predictably Irrational, Author Dan Ariely talks about the real value of free. Ariely suggests that it is normal to dismiss the downside of something when it is free. Consider this phrase - FREE PUPPIES. While it seems like a win-win situation (who wouldn't want a cute and cuddly little puppy - at no charge!), a free puppy has a very real cost. It's true, the emotional attachment we have to the word free can often make us overlook the downside of the item we are about to own at no charge.

Should I Consider a Charitable Remainder Trust?
From the desk of Charlie McCullough

You might remember that in one of my earliest blog posts, I introduced you to my family, including my lovely wife Lisa, our daughter Ava, and my children from my first marriage, Sheldon and Callie. In addition, my parents, Donald and Janice also live with us. It is a full and very busy life to say the least.

I have noticed in recent days that my parents are starting to slow down a bit. They used to be very active and offered their services as volunteers in several charitable organizations, including one of their favorite, the Marathon County Humane Society. My parents have always been very fond of animals, so when they retired, they decided that this would be a wonderful way to get involved in the community and give back. These days, they are just not as mobile as they once were, and they are not able to be involved as much as they would like.
