N-Jet Given Approval to Operate at DCA

N-Jet has received TSA authorization to operate flights to and from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) created a comprehensive security plan called the DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP).  The program restricted all general aviation operations at DCA to maintain the safety and security of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and the US government assets contained within.  Such changes allow for a maximum of 48 general aviation flights in and out of DCA daily, and have led to burdensome procedures for accessing DCA.

"Direct access to Washington National airport saves our passengers from enduring hours of unpredictable drive time on an expressway that has one of the highest accident rates in the country," explained N-Jet CEO Howard Seedorf. "Bringing our passengers closer to their final destination saves time and reduces risk."

As a TSA approved operator following the requirements of the DASSP, N-Jet may now provide on-demand charter flights into DCA, provided that the departure facility is DCA approved.

N-Jet Pilots Train with the Best

Too frequently, the focus has been placed on our fleet and its contribution to N-Jet's unprecedented high safety ratings.  In the process, we've neglected to highlight the operators of these great machines and the actions taken to ensure they are at the top of their class.  With our deep-rooted culture of safety, it should be no surprise that N-Jet's skilled pilots are required to train regularly with CAE, one of the best and most recognized names in aviation training.

CAE is a world-leader across the board, including aviation training, Aviation Performance Solutions (APS), simulation, and loss of control in-flight mitigation training.  They consider themselves a "top-down" aviation training company and have built very strong relationships with OEM aircraft companies to provide high-quality simulation and characteristics.   As a result, they have made lengthy strides in training, such as scenario innovation and high definition of simulation, which results in exceptionally realistic training.

Every six months, N-Jet pilots travel to CAE Simuflite Training in Dallas, TX or Morristown, NJ.  While there, they hone their skills through a variety of courses covering initial, recurrent, refresher, update and advanced training.

CAE is constantly taking strides to remain technologically advanced and competitive in order to maintain their status as a leader in aviation training.  Recently, they announced an extension of their partnership to provide a comprehensive Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) program for business and commercial aircraft pilots. The program uses proven web-based academics, in-flight practical skill development and full-flight simulator exercises and scenarios.  It's designed to help pilots reduce the threat of Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I) situations. LOC-I is defined as flight that occurs outside of the normal flight envelope with an inability of the pilot to control the aircraft, and is the number one cause of fatalities in commercial and general aviation.

"The program addresses the fundamental principles of all flight attitudes and is applicable to all pilot experience levels flying fixed-wing airplanes - turboprop or jet, straight or swept wing, any size and weight," said Captain Lou Nemeth, CAE's Chief Safety Officer. "Pilots who have been through this training have repeatedly called it some of the most valuable manual flying training they have ever received."

CAE is also partnered with a company called RUAG Aviation, and was recently selected by Dassault Falcon as the preferred Dassault authorized provider of Flight Data Monitoring Services (FDM) for all new production and in-service Falcon aircraft.  This is particularly important to N-Jet pilots who operate a Falcon-heavy fleet of three Falcon 900's and a Falcon 10.

The FDM service can enhance safety by helping Falcon operators proactively detect, assess and manage potential issues in their flight operations, as well as comply with certain regulatory requirements. It also provides objective monitoring and analysis of flight operations, abnormal event detection plus powerful flight debrief tools including 3D animations.

Finally, CAE recently announced the new CAE Simfinity ™ Virtual Ground School, the industry's 1st FAA-approved web-based Virtual Ground School for business aircraft pilot recurrent training.  The new program enables business aircraft pilots to study required recurrent training courseware anywhere they have an internet connection.  It features regulator-approved web-based study of the same systems and procedures course material they would cover in an instructor-led classroom.

"The convenience of web delivery of regulated recurrent training is a game-changer for business aviation pilots and operators. It leverages technology to provide more training value and pilot productivity for less operator investment by offering greater flexibility in pilot scheduling, reducing travel days, and enabling continuous training throughout the year," said Jeff Roberts, CAE's Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services.

N-Jet pilots plan to begin enjoying the benefits of this program within the next year.

On December 17th, 1903, Near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first successful flight in history of a self-propelled, heavier-than-air aircraft. Orville piloted the gasoline-powered, propeller-driven biplane, which stayed aloft for 12 seconds and covered 120 feet on its inaugural flight.
